We’re excited your new Focus³ Habitats Hangar6 has arrived! Now time to assemble!
Heat tape must be used with a thermostat, and as per manufacturer’s instructions never allow the heat tape to exceed 105 degrees. These heated units are designed to work in average home temperatures of 72 degrees or more. Your home’s ambient temperature, humidity, and airflow play a role in your enclosure’s thermostat settings and humidity needs. We recommend Herpstat brand dimming thermostats for more accurate temperature oscillation.
Once your thermostat is set accordingly, it is best to let the Hangar run for a few days while measuring and confirming your preferred temperatures with a heat gun and separate thermometer/hydrometer. Do not rely on the thermostat’s temperature setting alone to measure your desired temperature.
Key:
Labels are located at the front right of each panel for orientation.
1 – Level 1, floor panel
2 – Level 2, next level above L1
3– Level 3, next level above L2
4 – Level 4, last roof panel for tubs, as well as floor for the Command Center
T – Level 5, top roof panel of Command Center, T faces down
L – Left side
R – Right side
D1 – Divider 1, bottom level tub divider
D2 – Divider 2, middle level tub divider
D3 – Divider 3, top level tub divider
SPCR – Dimensional spacer used to evenly space each tub level up from the other.
The front, back, and floor risers are unlabeled. Black screws are for assembly, silver screws are for floor risers.
Your Hangar has been fully assembled for proper tub fitment, then disassembled for flat-pack shipping. Each panel is labeled according to its place within the assembly, labels should be removed once assembled. HDPE tub skids and spacers, and rear tub bumpers/heat tape holders are pre-assembled on each respective level.
The allen bolts on rear tub bumpers are intentionally left loose for ease of heat tape install. They need to be tightened during final assembly once heat tape is secure.
If you chose LED lighting, the bracket holes are CNC machined in the rear of the L & R sides. Locate the LED lighting hardware (2 screws and brackets per lamp) and install brackets opening toward the front of the panel on sides L & R before beginning the main assembly.
Attach divider 1 (D1) to the floor panel (1), divider 2 (D2) to level 2 (2), and divider 3 (D3) to level 3 (3) using supplied hardware. Screws go in the underside of each level into the respective center divider. CNC machined dots are at the front of each shelf, center the dividers evenly between the two dots. The divider should cover half on each side.
Take the floor panel and divider assembly (1 & D1) and attach each side respectively (labels L & R show orientation located at the front of the panel). Make sure the LED brackets are to the rear where the lighting will be located.
Once floor and sides are assembled, attach the rear panel with pre-installed tub bumpers facing inward to the floor and sides. As you add levels, work the screws from the bottom up, tightening the sides and rear as the levels are installed to limit binding.
Use the two supplied SPCR pieces to easily space up the second level (2 & D2) assembly. The dimensional SPCR pieces should slide in and out with little effort.
Tighten screws into the level from each side panel and rear panel. Repeat spacing and attachment process for the third level assembly (3 & D3).
Use dimensional SPCR pieces for level 4 (4) and tighten each side and rear panel. Use two screws from above to secure 4 to D3 below.
Lay assembly on its back to attach roof (T in the front corner facing down) panel to each side and rear panel, making it flush to each.
At this point, double check tub fitment on each level to make sure everything is screwed together properly before installing front panel. Front panel lines up flush on bottom of each shelf and outer edges of sides, top, and bottom.
Place assembly on its back to install front panel starting at the corners, then flush with the bottom of each tub shelf, sides, and so-on. Align center dividers with the front panel for best fitment.
Lay on back and install the floor risers. They have been pre-installed, so simply line up the holes and attach the two small rear risers and long front riser using the provided silver screws.
If ordered with a stand, the sides match to the Hangar6 unit the same with the L panel being the viewer’s left, and R panel being the viewer’s right with the pocket for the link to be placed. The stand is numbered like an enclosure, and match like numbers for assembly order. Visit the main Enclosure Assembly Instructions for more details and photos. Links use the standard black hardware in the pocket location.
Heat Tape & LED Install
Heat Tape
Take supplied heat tape with copper facing forward and plug wires at the top.
Slide bottom end of tape (no wires, electrical taped) through top panel rear slot, down through each level. Gently pull back on tub bumpers as you transition through each level.
Once the tape reaches the bottom level, curve it under the rear of the tub risers.
Gently tighten tub bumper allen bolts once heat tape is in desired spot.
Probe can be attached in front of the heat tape on the center level using pre-installed clip. Your thermostat will need to be set higher than your preferred temperature as these are rear heat units with no tub/tape contact. Do not rely on the thermostat’s temperature setting alone to measure your desired temperature. Pulling tubs in and out frequently without allowing the interior air to stabilize can alter temperature readings.
Plug wires can be routed out of the back of the Command Center using holes in the rear panel.
LED Lamps
Place LED lamp (wires facing up) through corner rear holes from the top, downward. Lamp simply clips into the brackets installed earlier, and wires can be routed out the back of the Command Center using rear panel holes.
