The accepted rule of thumb for perch size is 1/2 the diameter of your snake and smaller. However, some animals prefer larger perches and some prefer smaller. We offer a variety of perch sets to choose from to fit your snake’s size and preference. Each enclosure has a variety of perching diameters to fit your needs, and they are removable to place in different positions within the enclosure. We typically place the larger perches lower, with smaller perches up top to mimic a tree’s natural branch size from bottom to top.

Perches

20mm carbon fiber, 15mm carbon fiber, 12mm carbon fiber, 10mm carbon fiber, 8mm carbon fiber.

The carbon rods are measured on the outer diameter and have great rigidity. The 8mm and 10mm perches require the small perch mounts and are only available in neonate setups due to their small diameter.

We also offer painted carbon core colored options in 12mm, 15mm, and 20mm:

The Reptile Perch Sch 40 PVC perching

Schedule 40 PVC dimensions are measured from the inner diameter since PVC pipe’s manufactured use is for flowing water in plumbing. So a SCH 40 1/2″ PVC pipe has an inner diameter of 1/2″, making the outer diameter more than 1/2″ with the thick SCH 40 walls.

Perch mounts allow both the carbon and PVC perches to be easily removable by lifting the notched end vertically off the perch mount. The notched ends on the perches and upside down “T” style perch mounts keeps perches from rotating while still allowing the perch to be removable.
